In the Study Hall
The complete holdings of all drawings, a substantial part of the Graphic Art Collection, the Sculpture Collection, the Photographic Collection and core sections of the Architectural Collection are stored in the internal TMS database, with around 330,000 data sets or 355,000 objects. The entire database is available to users of the Study Hall for research purposes. From this rich store of material scholarly researchers and art connoisseurs alike may request to be shown individual works.
A substantial specialist library on art history, with particular emphasis on the fields of drawing, the graphic art print and photography, is available and ready for use.
In the Albertina Collections Online there are currently 100,000 main works of the Graphic Art Collection, 34,000 objects of the Photographic Collection and around 19,000 objects of the Architectural Collection and 6,000 objects of the Poster Collection that can be researched online.
The study hall can be found on the ramparts alongside the longitudinal section of the palace. Please show a valid ID at the reception. Cloak rooms are located in the lobby prior to the study hall.
For reasons of preservation, particularly valuable and sensitive originals (such as the drawings of Dürer, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raffael, Rembrandt, Rubens, Schiele and Klimt) can only be shown to persons engaged in scholarly research and only after prior permission being sought and granted from the study hall directorate.
